Artist Research & Update

I've found more interesting artist models for my project.

1. Cara Delevingne

Cara Delevingne began modelling at a very young age. Her depression was triggered when she discovered her mother's drug addiction as a teenager. She explained that when she was younger, she had to play a stronger, more supportive role in her family, and only when she grew into her teens did she allow herself to give into her own emotions. Cara said, "I was suicidal. I couldn't deal with it any more. I realized how lucky and privileged I was, but all I wanted to do was die. I felt so guilty because of that and hated myself because of that, and then it's a cycle. I didn't want to exist anymore. I wanted for each molecule of my body to disintegrate. I wanted to die."
Luckily, Cara found help at the age of 16. She left school for six months and agreed to go on medication, which she said might have saved her life.

I believe that I was relating to this a lot and gave me an idea of focusing on "Depression" more rather than "Mental Health" since it was a really broad question.

2. Lady Gaga

Gaga told Billboard that she’s coped with mental illness all her life, and still deals with it daily. Through her music, Gaga has been able to relate to fans and hopes to show young people that it’s OK to struggle and has established Born This Way Foundation, a nonprofit determined to show disenfranchised teens they weren’t alone. In her interview with Billboard, she said “I’ve suffered through depression and anxiety my entire life, I still suffer with it every single day. I just want these kids to know that that depth that they feel as human beings is normal,” she told Billboard. “We were born that way. This modern thing, where everyone is feeling shallow and less connected? That's not human.”

This has really opened up my eyes and know that there are celebrities out there also suffering with depression. With this I've decided to go on with the self-interview on talking about depression as I myself have suffered with it at a young age and how it is still an ongoing battle for me as well.
